BCEA MAJOR EVENTS
LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE The BCEA Leadership Conference is held each
year. It is designed as a training program for both new and experienced local leaders. The training program is conducted by NJEA staff as well as representatives from
outside agencies. Guest speakers, and NEA officers and/or staff often attend and address this conference.
LEGISLATIVE DINNER
The BCEA Legislative Dinner held annually is our best attended function of the year. This dinner of approximately 500 guests allows our county membership to meet and
hear our Bergen County Legislators. The priority issues of NJEA and BCEA are addressed along with the reactions of our elected leaders in Trenton.
PRIDE IN EDUCATION ACTIVITY
The association produces an annual activity to promote the passage of school budgets throughout the community.
INSTRUCTIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (IPD) WORKSHOPS
Instructional & Professional Development is key to all our members in providing growth opportunities for our members, as well as for our organizational direction. This
year, BCEA calls all its members together to accomplish this goal with three dinner workshops and three overnight professional development workshops. These workshops,
scheduled throughout the year, will be offered to all of our members. Workshop topics will be chosen based on relevance and timeliness to our members, as well as our
profession.
EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS WORKSHOP
The BCEA ESP Workshop has developed over the past few years into a major BCEA event. It provides topics for our Support Professional members on issues relative to
their needs and concerns as members of BCEA. This year the dinner workshop will take place in November. We at BCEA look forward to another well received workshop.
The BCEA also provides a second ESP Workshop in the spring to address the “PERS” pension system and/or health benefits.
HUMAN RELATIONS WORKSHOP
The Human Relations Workshop has become a component of the Human Relations Committee. This workshop is conducted for the purpose of setting goals directed at minority
involvement on the local, county, state, and national levels. Participants develop direction in fostering the concepts of human and civil rights of all employees of
the United Teaching Profession.
